EVAN CHASTEEN

CHILDHOOD

Evan was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Roger & Linda Chasteen. He grew up in a safe, loving home environment, spending every other week with his dad and step-mom, Carla, and every other week with his mom and half-sister, Anna.

Several unique dynamics from childhood still have an impact on how Evan sees and engages with the world around him as an adult — charismatic private schooling from kindergarten through eleventh grade, successful entrepreneur father, generous and loving step-mom, special needs half-sister, single mother of two, getting his motorcycle license at age 15, leadership roles at church, time at Eufaula Lake exploring the woods each weekend, a kind-hearted step-father who cared for his mother through illness, and most of all witnessing the people closest to him put aside their differences for the sake of love.

TWENTIES

Evan’s mom died of breast cancer on December 1 when he was twenty-one years old with him, his dad, Roger, and his step-dad, Mark, in the room for her last breath. This was the most significant event in life up to this point and left him with many unanswered questions; something he has become much more comfortable with in the time since. Soon after, he graduated from Oklahoma State University and spent the summer in Panama City Beach, Florida leading a youth camp. In August he packed up his Tacoma and moved to Atlanta, GA for an entry-level sales role. He spent two years living in the city, during which he met his wife, Grace, while she was in her senior year at Auburn University. He and Grace dated for two years during which his journey of self-discovery became more intense. You can only willingly share the parts of yourself with another that you are consciously aware of; being in a close relationship and overcoming life’s obstacles together is an incredibly helpful (and scary) way to bring the self to light.

A year and a half into marriage, Evan and Grace quit their full-time jobs, sold their cars, rented out their house, bought a Winnebago, loaded up the motorcycle, and traveled the country full-time with their two dogs. Their journey took them to 19 states and spanned 10 months. During this time Evan spent much of his time under the stars in the desert with Grace reflecting on life, religion, relationships, love, and meaning. He kept a journal that documented exactly where they stayed each night and in which he asked and shared honestly — Why am I here? What is the purpose of life? How does one acquire Truth?

WHICH BRINGS US TO NOW

Evan lives with his wife, Grace, their children, Olive & Boone, and their two dogs, Madge & Michael in Alpharetta, GA.

On any given day, he spends his morning making scrambled eggs, changing diapers and talking with Grace about their schedule; his days strategizing & executing digital marketing campaigns and recording podcasts in between FaceTime calls with Grace and the kids; and his nights doing dishes, playing in the yard with the family, admiring the presence or absence of the moon, dreaming with Grace about their next adventures together, and answering the question, “What made you laugh today?”

If labels are your thing, Evan is a husband, dad, speaker, digital marketer, friend, and asker of questions.
